Property sales increase for second week
The average number of properties sold by an estate agent increased for the second consecutive week, the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has said.In October, its members sold on average seven properties, an increase on September's figure (six) and August's low, when only five were sold. This was because sellers acknowledged "their houses are not worth as much now as they were 12 months ago," said NAEA president Chris Brown."They are ripping up last year's price tags and beginning to come to terms with the new economic reality."Mr Brown said prices were now becoming more realistic, which he hoped would help stimulate people to start buying again.Property prices have continued to fall since they peaked in late 2007.According to the Land Registry, since then average property prices have fallen from £186,045 to £168,814.
